What to expect

Pack walks run Monday to Thursday, with a solo enrichment walk available on Fridays. Walks run as morning sessions starting with pickup from 9am onward, and drop-off before 1pm, depending on our collective route and the plan for the day. I’ll pick up your hound, take them out for a fun 1.5 hour hike, and drop them home again. If needed, I'll give them a quick rinse and towel dry - just leave a towel out for them. Your pooch will usually be away from home between 2 to 3 hours in total. We walk rain or shine, unless the weather conditions are too adverse. Please note that this isn’t a casual drop-in service - it works best when the dogs are known, the routine is consistent, and the group is stable. Regular dogs are prioritised so the pack stays consistent and balanced.

Adventure pack walk

Adventure Pack Walks run for 90 minutes, including pickup and drop-off. They take place in small, carefully matched groups of up to six dogs, so the social dynamic stays calm and builds nicely over time. Each walk balances movement, play, and real-world engagement - helping dogs build better recall, confidence, focus, and overall behaviour in a relaxed but structured setting. Dogs learn to work with their handler, tune out distractions, make better choices, and walk calmly on or off leash (where it's safe to do so) - getting more comfortable with the real world while building confidence, freedom, and good social skills with their pack mates. And your doggo gets plenty of one-on-one attention, affection, and care from me the whole way through.

Adventure Pack Walks run on weekday mornings from 9am, Monday through Thursday.

Getting started

Before any dog joins the pack, I run a meet and greet. This gives your dog a chance to get comfortable with me in their own space, and gives me a good read on their behaviour, confidence, and how they respond generally. I'm not after anything flashy here - just a solid starting point. Trust builds over time, not overnight. The first walk doubles as a trial run, so we can both be sure it's a good fit and that your pooch is set to enjoy the adventures ahead.

What a walk looks like

We head through a mix of Wellington terrain - hills, bush tracks, coastal paths, and occasionally the beach when conditions line up. Walks are around 90 minutes and include a mix of movement, play, learning, and downtime. Some days are more active, some more exploratory. Sometimes the dogs need a proper run, to be mentally engaged, other times they just need to wander and take things in. Off-lead time is introduced gradually and only where it’s absolutely safe to do so, based on recall, trust, and the environment. Everything is done within Wellington City Council guidelines and designated zones.

The pack structure

A small, tight pack of no more than 6 dogs keeps things calm, personable, and safe. Rather than grouping dogs together for convenience, I look at temperament, energy, size, and play style, and build groups that actually gel. Where possible, those groups stay the same month to month, which helps everyone settle into a steady rhythm.

Behaviour and guidance

A big part of the focus is helping dogs build confidence, trust, and better social habits through repetition and good experiences. Any tension, over-excitement or fixation are picked up early and guided before they turn into something bigger. Most dogs slot straight in. Others take a bit more time. If a dog isn’t coping well in a pack environment, I’ll be upfront about it and offer one-on-one training where relevant, or point you in the right direction for more appropriate support.

Safety

Safety underpins everything. I understand that I’m responsible for someone’s whole world every single day - I get it, because my dogs are mine too! That’s why I take a calm and attentive approach to every walk, keep my pack small, and plan ahead - from pack balance and behaviour through to transport, environment, and routine. I carry an extensive first aid kit and I’m trained in pet first aid, so I’m prepared to respond quickly if a dog is injured, unwell, or needs immediate care while out with me. Dogs are assessed before joining, must be vaccinated, wear their WCC tag and need to be suited to a small-group environment. Because these are longer, active walks, younger dogs, very small dogs, or dogs with more complex needs are considered case by case.

Service area

I provide a dedicated mid-morning pack walk for dogs based in the Southern and Western hills of Wellington. By focusing on our home turf, I ensure that the pack spends minimal time in transit and maximum time out on the trails. I currently provide pick-up and drop-off services in:

Brooklyn & Mornington | Vogeltown & Kingston | Highbury | Kowhai Park & Aro Valley | Island Bay | Berhampore | Newtown

Extended service area: located slightly outside our core neighborhood boundaries? I can often accommodate wider Wellington requests upon request for a flat +$10 travel surcharge per day.
